The War Inside
I know there’s nothing good in me when I’m doing life my way. I want to do right, but I keep blowing it. Every time I choose good, evil trips me up. It’s like there’s a war inside me—my heart wants God, but my flesh keeps dragging me back to the same garbage.
I’m sick of the cycle. Who’s going to rescue me from this mess? Well… Jesus already did. He’s the only one who can pull me out of the war inside my own head. Without Him, I’m stuck; but with Him, I’m finally free.
- Romans 7:18-25
Let’s be real: we’re all walking contradictions. We talk faith but flirt with temptation. We claim we’ve changed, yet our old habits keep shouting our name. Paul wasn’t sugarcoating anything in this passage—he was brutally honest about the tug-of-war between his spiritual intentions and his fleshly impulses. Sound familiar? You know exactly what he’s talking about. That constant internal argument—the version of you that wants to do right and the version that doesn’t care at all.
Here’s the truth most won’t say out loud: wanting to do the right thing doesn’t make you righteous—doing it does. And white-knuckling your way through sin management doesn’t work. The flesh will always drag you back into mess until Jesus runs your life, not just your weekends. This isn’t about “trying harder.” It’s about surrendering deeper. You can’t win this war on your own, because you’re fighting yourself. Only Christ cuts through the chaos.
Stop blaming “the struggle” and start facing it. Your issue isn’t that you fall—it’s that you keep trying to get up without God. Paul didn’t end this passage in self-pity; he exploded in gratitude. That’s the turning point: when you finally admit you can’t beat sin, you give room for Jesus to do what you couldn’t.
The Message
Let's Reflect On This
Romans 7:18–25 is a reality check. You’re not losing your mind—you’re in a war zone between your flesh and your faith. Paul wasn’t pretending he had it all together; he confessed that even when he wanted to do right, his sinful nature fought him at every step. That struggle is the mark of someone who truly belongs to God, because the Spirit in you won’t let sin sit comfortably.
Let’s end me repeat that: Your struggle is the mark of someone who truly belongs to God, because the Spirit in you won’t let sin sit comfortably.
The problem isn’t knowing what’s right—it’s surrendering long enough for God to actually change you. You can’t outmuscle sin. You can’t keep fighting battles you were never meant to win alone. The only way out of the trap is full surrender—no excuses, no halfway obedience. Real freedom starts when you admit defeat and hand control back to Jesus.
Let's Close It Out With A Prayer
“God, I keep fighting battles You’ve already won. I’m tired of losing to the same sin. Take control of what I can’t fix. I’m done pretending—please take over."
Amen

What is a Rogue Disciple?
A Rogue Disciple is a man who dares to follow Jesus beyond the boundaries of tradition and empty ritual. Instead of settling for surface-level faith or joining the crowd in profit-driven institutions, a Rogue Disciple chooses a different way—one rooted in sincerity, brotherhood, and a relentless pursuit of truth.
To be a Rogue Disciple means refusing to blend in with the noise of commercialized religion. It means seeking God honestly, standing strong with other men, and building a life of faith that’s real—no performances, no pretense. A Rogue Disciple walks boldly, willing to challenge the status quo in order to honor Christ with integrity and courage.
FAITH WITHOUT THE INSTITUTION

The Rogue Disciples men’s group is dedicated to one mission — helping men grow stronger in their faith alongside other like-minded brothers.
We are men who choose a different path, stepping away from profit-driven institutions that have strayed from the true meaning of “church.”
Instead, we follow the foundation Jesus set: a simple, genuine gathering built on faith, accountability, and truth. As Jesus said, “If two or more gather in My name, I am there among them.” That is the heart of what we are, free from the commercialization and performance-driven culture that too often replaces authenticity.
Our approach is raw and straightforward — honoring God through Scripture, brotherhood, and personal growth. There are no membership fees, no tithes, and no hidden agendas. Just men walking together in faith, sharpening one another spiritually, mentally, and morally.
We welcome men from every background and stage of life who are ready to live boldly in their faith, stand firm against the noise of modern religious commercialism, and grow into the men God created them to be.
